(Not so)Quick thoughts on Episode 13

I have a lot of things to say about the new episode (about Levi especially) and a little Hu analysis I can write now that her secret is confirmed, but it’s very late! But I still want to talk about things! So here’s a random collection of stuff I thought was interesting.

Spoilers under the cut!

Eden was the one who took out Xander’s eye with a fork. It’s interesting that she’s the weakest member of the cast, but somehow managed to injure Xander, the strongest by far. He must’ve been really caught off guard.

It’s also interesting that the weapon is a fork. It must’ve been a spur of the moment decision, otherwise she would’ve had a better weapon. Her distraught expression also implies she wasn’t planning on hurting Xander.

In the opening scene of the show, someone (likely Xander) says he has to kill Teruko. He says he “didn’t expect her to attack him like that”, which we now know is referring to Eden. But he also says he made a mistake to trust “them”. So Eden was working with someone else. She might’ve betrayed Xander on Teruko’s behalf.

Also, this scene emphasizes that Xander’s goal was to end the killing game! A goal which he never saw through, but David is trying to carry that torch for him.

This one isn’t related to the new episode, but I found this and it made me feel things. Eden says almost the same thing to Teruko in chapter 1 that Arei says to Eden in chapter 2.

I’ve been trying since last week to figure out what David knew about Xander. Their interactions in chapter 1 provide no clues, as far as I can tell…David doesn’t act like he recognizes Xander at all, except in their “role models” scene where he has this line. They did investigate together at the start, so maybe something happened then? Or maybe David was just determined to not let Xander know he recognized him. Or maybe David didn’t care much about Xander Matthews as a public figure before he got to know Xander as a person, and only started considering Xander’s career important after the fact. Or maybe he genuinely didn’t recognize him because he didn’t mention his last name? But in the MV, he remembers what Xander looks like without his eye patch, so wouldn’t that mean David knew what he looked like?

When Teruko claims to have the family secret, he makes a face like “I caught you”. Why did he react like that if he already knew what her secret was…? Does David know from his prior knowledge of Xander that the family secret is his?

It’s possible Teruko genuinely believes the family secret is hers, since she blames her own bad luck for the things that happen to people around her.

Eden can’t fathom the idea of not caring about people. She’s so empathetic it almost seems like a weakness, so she doesn’t understand how someone could lack empathy completely. I love that dynamic…I hope they both live so I can see more of it.

Arturo has a strong reaction to this because he still remembers Felicity.

Also, Arturo being a voice of morality this episode was something I did not expect, but I’m here for it.

Ace is absolutely lying. He’s the most gullible person in the cast. He definitely thought Levi was being genuine.

He pushed Levi away over and over in chapter 2, but Levi kept bouncing back from it, insisting he wouldn’t hurt him. That probably made Ace feel comforted, in a way. Like there was one person who wouldn’t abandon him, even after enduring all of his awful behavior.

It’s interesting that he brings up the term “friends” here. Since when were they friends? Genuinely. A guy expressing concern for you does not a friendship make, Ace Markey.

He’s also taking Levi very out of context. Levi says he doesn’t care about anyone at all, because he’s literally incapable of it. Ace takes that as a personal attack. Levi doesn’t care about him, specifically, and that’s a betrayal somehow. Levi never meant to mislead him about that, but Ace thinks he was lying to him. (It’s made worse for him because now he knows no one in the cast likes him)

Ace projects a lot of things onto people in general. Mostly negative intent. But in this case, he might’ve been projecting the idea of a friendship that wasn’t really there. It makes sense to a degree. I was also fooled into thinking Levi cared about Ace, but not because they were friends. It was because Levi like helping everyone, including Ace. Ace seems incapable of understanding that sometimes people do stuff and it doesn’t really mean anything.

I say all that as an Ace Markey fan. He’s my favorite character. This critique is from a place of love. Boy, is there a lot to critique about him.

I’m interested now in seeing how his relationships develop after this. His most important dynamics (Levi and Nico) either don’t care about him at all or hate him so much they tried to kill him (unless there’s a plot twist on that front). Is he ever going to have a friend? Or a confidant of any kind? Not if he keeps acting like that, but it’s kind of a vicious cycle.

Also did his friend die? Why does he say “his memory”? Okay Ace. Is this why his sexuality was confirmed?

Last observation for the road. Whit called David “Starboy” in chapter 1, and now “Sir Light Pollution” in chapter 2, continuing the trend of star-themed David nicknames. It makes sense in his head. (Why does he know so much about hanging)

2: Who’s the one that made you Stan?

Felix actually! The first time I saw him I was like "how old is this kid? where is his mother??" and then I heard his VOICE and I was like "oh he is GOING places". Then I slowly got to know more about all the rest of the boys on the elimination show (what a time THAT was to be on kpop tumblr, lemme tell you) and now I'm here all these years later!

3: What song was your first?

Hellevator! I was there for the elimination show, but REALLY got into them once they debuted.

4: What’s your current favorite song?

I have a soft spot for "Maniac" and "My Pace" still (I know, older discography, don't judge). Off the new album though, "JJAM" is probably my favorite.

5: What members personally resembles yours the most?

Oh gosh, probably Bang Chan? Used to being the caretaker, the responsible party, kind and caring, but also having a pretty strong gremlin energy too I would say is a pretty close description of both of us.

6: If you had to pick a specific racha which would you choose?

Paboracha bless them. If I wasn't so similar to Bang Chan I'd probably be a member of Paboracha too 😂

7: What’s one attribute of the members do you like the most? (Example: Chans dimples)

Oooo that's a good question...Felix's freckles? I'm endeared by them. Han and Changbin's cheeks are a close second. (and I do mean FACE cheeks, I promise)

A tie between "ATE" and "NoEasy" I think.

Ironically, I have a version of both "ATE" and "NoEasy" lol I'm super behind on them in terms of album ownership (i am ashamed of this fact)

I have not been to a Stray Kids concert! I haven't been able to afford it, even this time around...One day, maybe! I'd love to see them!

Oh my god where do I even start...I would say either a day doing touristy goofy fun things with Felix and enjoying the sunshine OR a day going to do artsy things like museums and art classes with Hyunjin!

In terms of singing, Seungmin and Bang Chan to me have some incredible vocals. For rapping though, even though Felix's voice is definitely the first one I recognize, I ALWAYS find myself absolutely going WILD whenever Changbin raps.

16: Who’s your favorite to watch dance?

Hyunjin and Lee Know. They both have such incredible flow, technique, and reflexes that its hard to not be completely mesmerized by them when they dance!

17: Do you have a favorite SKZ Code?

Oh I love any time they cause chaos, but the ones that stick out to me are the Chuseok Special where the Skz Family returned (Hyunjin's scream in that episode spoke to my soul lol) as well as the recent Go! Poolside episode.

18: Favorite MV?

"Hellevator" will always have a soft spot in my heart because it was their first, but I also loved the "Chk Chk Boom" mv

19: Who do you think you’d be best friends with?

Ooooo that's a good question...I don't know actually! My best guess is Bang Chan or Lee Know because we're around the same age and have a lot of similarities in personality and humor? I genuinely could not tell, my mutuals could probably answer this better!

20: Let’s feed those delusions, Who are you picking for a date and what are you doing?

YEEEEES I'm always down for some delulu feeding. I could say something stereotypical (*cough* bang chan nap date *cough*), but I'll go for something different. I would LOVE a, golden hour walk through the city with Changbin, doing some window shopping, that ends with takeout and a movie night and some sweets? Matching sweaters will be a requirement. We get the balance of good exercise with a walk AND some soft domestic time with the movie night. Perfection (in my opinion).

Both options are pretty interesting. And well, in the context of Mikoto's crime, "I take someone’s fleeting future and use it as a stepping stone" takes on a new meaning.

Of course, we still don't know what caused his murder, only that apparently being kidnapped was an improvement. So you could also view him as the victim, which gives new meaning to those weird lines in the middle of the song that really don't sound like they're from the same person as the rest...

But mostly, I added this song for the "shadows lurking under the light/denial" angle, which is theme for the last section of the playlist. I just saw y the HYBE x Ithaca Holdings video and it really hit me with some realisations. HYBE partnering with them is bound to change some things in a huge way. Collabs and economics notwithstanding, Ithaca is home to NUMEROUS big name artists. I want to focus on the fact that: (1) Beiber is a heavily tattooed dude, I wonder if this fact will give some leeway for Kook to be a bit more free with his existing tatts or allow him to continue getting more. (2) Demi is an openly queer woman. This, along with how open Ithaca’s artists are with their support for the LGBTQ+ community, makes me wonder how it will influence HYBE artists who might be queer themselves (looking at Jikook 👀). I fully know that culturally Korea is its own thing and HYBE its own entity, but I think this might open up some doors for our boys both musically speaking as well as regarding their own selves. Dearest Goldy of mine, what do you think?

I do agree that this provides a huge economic opportunity for BTS as a group and as investors in Hybe and for frankly anyone within Hybe labels- there's a lot of talents who would kill to be part of this company now. I just know it.

But I think you are basically asking if this new acquisition will in effect impact the lifestyle of BTS, specifically Jikook as queer people in any way?

I'd say no- especially on the issue of tattoos. But I might be wrong. I just think it takes more than a business merger to undo a person's lifestlye and or socialization or even influence it.

Unless of course, this merger guarantees them certain universal rights and protections outside their culture and political system I don't see how it's to profit them as queer people in any major way.

Whatever impact I'd say is rather intangible.

I've said a few times now how BTS by virtue of their presence in the international community, in my opinion, are socialized and are expected to be socialized a tad differently from the average regular conservative or even liberal S. Korean person with no external influences whatsoever on their socializations.

Your socialization informs your lifestyle.

Justin, Troye, RM and other artists have undoubtedly had and perhaps continue to have an influence on Jk musically and lifestyle wise, to some extent, but he has his own unique values and beliefs and morals that has been acquired and instilled in him through the years independent of these influences.

He is his own person afterall.

Plus did you see the arm sleeve on the director of the MV for Home? He is surrounded at the work place with people that are tatted too. It can't be just Justin B.

He saw a girl with tattoos and said that was something he'd love to have one day when he got of age and he got it- in spite of Suga's objection. He's always expressed interests in tattoos and wanting to become a tattoo artist.

He got these tattoos in spite of the inconveniences they pose to his expressions of self within his career and society- as tattoos are still pretty much stigmatized in S.K and aren't legally allowed on certain broadcasts within S. Korea. And he continues to add on them, draw over them etc way before this merger came into existence.

If he decides that's what he wants he will get them but it wouldn't be because Justin Bieber is heavily tatted or because his company expanded.

I'm not sure what you mean by leeway, but in a recent Run episode (the one with the famous chef) we saw his full arm out and I think that was the first time we had seen his tats on full display on run.

Contrastingly, he had his whole arm bandaged in the Let's BTS interview on KBS.

He covers his tattoos most times because of broadcast rules that prohibits (regulates) not just tattoos but alcohol consumption, cussing, nudity etc on public television that require specific ratings.

Merger or not he will still have to adhere to the laws of South Korea, including entertainment and media broadcasting laws and hide his tattoos as and where.

On the topic of queerness, I think now more than ever BTS would have to become socially, racially and culturally conscious and aware the instant this deal is concluded in May.

Ithaca has one of the most diversified group of artists under its belt- from Quavo who is black to Demi who is queer like you pointed out.

Now more than ever they are at the center of the global conversations we are having in our generation- from racism, to LBGTQ plus marginalizations, to all oppressions of minorities and minority groups.

And with that proximity comes a need to keep themselves in check now more so than ever- which include a check on the cultural appropriation bit, the queer baiting, drawing on queer aesthetics in their 'fan service' culture and other problematic issues that is characteristic of KPop.

What they do now matters more than ever- socially speaking of course.

When Jin started eating a lollipop JM gave him provocatively, JM asked him not to do that on camera but to reserve things like that for the group off camera.

If 'gay' is not gay but their 'culture' I think they know better to keep it to themselves off camera and act 'right' on camera- especially now.

I'm not about to stan a group that capitalizes on the trauma and oppression of me and my people in the name of entertainment. That's just tacky.

On the plus, I think it's great that they be surrounded by other queer folks in the business and be part of a community that welcomes and support queerness so they don't feel like they are the only ones.

That's not to say they aren't surrounded by queer people in their dialy lives.

I mean they have a large staff and I know damn well some of those staffers are queer as well- why wouldn't they be. Lol.

They've always had that 'supportive' environment to foster their relationship- well except for that one time a manager tried to bitch slap JK. Lol. Sorry.

It's not funny at all. Serious face.

They've always been free and loose in places outside Korea- Japan for one, to be themselves in certain 'controlled" areas of their lives.

I think if anything there's gonna be a focus on creating conducive and inclusive work environments and ethics for everyone not just queer people within the company at large.

I think Jikook can relate more, have certain essential conversations in the group, be exposed to and be part of the 'community' in a way that just felt so distant to them prior to the acquisition- in my opinion.

There is strength in numbers after all. Other than that those two companies might operate like night and day with a few eclipses in between.

The bigger question for me is how SK is going to react to Hybe as an international company from now on. No elite Korean company has openly admitted queer artists within their label. Such revelations presumably is bound to impact their social and economic standing...

Seems in acquiring Ithaca though Hybe have circumvented the conservative problem within Kpop and their culture as they have acquired openly queer artists.

Not that they care about an artist's sexuality. Bang have made it perfectly clear he prioritizes a person's talent over their sexual preference and thus hire artists based on their skills regardless of their sexuality.

But that is also not to say that the company wouldn't be met with harsh criticisms and suffer economic loss should they openly admit the sexuality of certain artists they work with.

I mean he did advise Jo Kwan on the risks he would be taking in going in the direction he wanted to go in with his heels schtick. So he is aware of the risks involved in going public with an artist's sexual orientation.

He talked about Korean companies playing it safe and not taking certain risks especially when it comes to deeds that are deemed 'rebellious' against the Korean conservative way.

-Watch and learn people, if you can't hire openly gay talents acquire their company. Problem solved. Lol.

From May, Hybe will technically officially become the first elite Korean company with openly queer artists under its labels that openly touches on and advocates for LGBTQ plus rights.

I'm waiting for Pride month with a cup of tea. Mu haha ha.

BTS has performed with queer artists in the past, dabbled in LGBTQ plus conversations which was mostly met with mixed reactions from the general public- some oblivious to who these artists were much less that they were queer. (Sis laugh with me. Hehe. If you know you know)

BigHit is gradually evolving the status quo.

It's an interesting development I must say, one I'm very much invested in at this point.

BigHit has always aimed beyond the borders of Korean commercial verse often straddling the line of conservatism, literally just became an international company within South Korea governed by both Korean and American laws that in all essence conflict with eachother morally and constitutionally.

Bang has some heavy balls I'll give him that.

Also, since this is an acquisition and not a merger I doubt if much will change in the structures of either company- the family photoshoots would be interesting to watch.

Imagine trying to get Arianna, Justin, BTS, TXT in one large studio for a photoshoot. I'm literally cackling. Lmho.

Scooter Braun will become part of the board of Hybe to manage the company and he is part owner of Hybe along with Justin, Ariana and BTS who also have shares in the company- until they decide to sell their shares that is.

That's about it.

I'm not sure how these Asian haters are gonna respond to an Asian company taking over 'America.' That's something to watch out for.

Then there's this whole issue of 'scandals' and both campanies view on it.

Western companies feed off chaos and drama and scandals, Kpop is the exact opposite.

Most of these Artists under Ithaca have had some pretty bad records and are prone to scandals and stuff like that. In case of an inevitable future scandal, the news would read 'BTS's so so and so.'

They are gonna make it all about BTS.

I mean when BigHit went public with their IPO and it went south it was all about BTS' 'failed IPO' in the news rather than the company it's self.

I have mixed feelings about this acquisition.

It's obvious BigHit is saving Justin Bieber's label. You don't sell unless you are in some huge financial decline blah blah.

Hybe is keeping them in business while building their own portfolio in the industry. BTS may not have a Grammy but Hybe has several artists with Grammys under it's belt now. Smirk.

The success of Justin, Ariana and all these artists are the success of Hybe which together with the powerhouse that is BTS gives Hybe more prestige- it's like watching the game of thrones but this time it's a bunch of nerds with chapsticks and Prada. Lmho.

At least now people will think twice before they peddle the 'they are not gay, it's their culture' nonsense.

"Harry!", you shouted from your shared room as you tried to stand up from the bed and look for your husband.

You opened the electronics cabinet where you found the vintage looking video camera the two of you bought on your honeymoon few months ago, and took it - making sure that the battery is there and the camera is working.

"H! Where are you?", you yelled as you turn on the camera and took a video of going downstairs. Quickly descending from the stairs, which is never a good idea because you're too clumsy for your own good, you heard Harry's voice coming from his home studio next to the living room.

You saw this Tiktok compilation on your Instagram feed of people asking their significant others a question about getting a divorce and you thought why not. Also, you made sure to film your husband's answer on the retro video camera because that's just the aesthetic of the both of you.

You heard Harry called out your name as you walk across the living room, probably wondering why you became quiet all of a sudden.

You excitedly went inside the studio and saw Harry playing different tunes on his guitar and once he felt your presence, his fingers stopped messing around with the strings and looked up in your direction.

"Hi baby! Come here.", he smiled at you and motioned for you to sit beside him on the studio's couch, his reaction being filmed along the way.

He put down his guitar as you came near him only for you to get pulled down on his lap when you're close enough making you giggle.

"Why're you calling me?", Harry asked as he nuzzled his face on your neck to leave a peck making your heart race, the intimate moment not being caught in the camera but the audio will surely gave it away.

You moved your body to better see him and answered, "just got a question H.", then pecked his lips trice.

Harry looked at you in a questioning manner as you stood up to sit on the other end of the couch instead whilst taking a look at the recorder's screen to check if it's still recording.

"Lovie you're kinda scaring me here.", your husband whined jokingly making you stick your tongue at him as you focused the camera on him and cleared your throat adding to the suspense.

You cleared your throat once more making Harry furrow his eyebrows at you to the point where you're almost certain that the lines on his forehead will stay forever but you eventually started speaking, "what three things will you take when we get a divorce?", you asked making sure that the camera is at the right angle.

Harry looked at you dumbfounded for a few seconds, "I-...", he looks at you then to the camera you're holding, "I- nothing.", he said cooly.

You played dumb and asked, "what do you mean nothing? There's at least something you want to get!", you laughed after.

He crossed his arms on his chest, "I said nothing, end of this conversation.", he said as he started standing up.

"Wait! Sit back down!", you stopped him as you tried to reach him with your hand that's not holding the device, "c'mon! there's gotta be something!".

You're sure you're kinda pissing him off but you couldn't find it in you to stop pestering him with the question.

"I said nothing because it's stupid. That's not gonna happen. At. All.", your husband said sternly making you laugh.

"Not even one?", you asked again.

"Nope. Not even one.", he smirked at you then paused and looked at you with wide blown eyes, "you're not divorcing me, right?", Harry asked you worriedly.

You shook your head 'no' and said, "I would never! Well at least not for a long time!", you joked.

"Damn baby!", he slapped one of your foot near him halfheartedly, "why did you asked me that then?".

"Just wanna know.", you shrugged, "so...?"

"Well uhm let me think for second...", he put his right hand on his chin and put this really cute thinking face, you made sure to zoom in the camera just a bit, "one is the thick blankets we're using...", you giggled at his first answer.

"Ugh! Love this is hard! I don't even know the answer because I never even considered it!"

"You gotta answer me, anything at all Harry!", you poked his thighs a few times making him grab your foot and pretend to eat it, "not now H!", you laughingly yelled at him.

Finally he put your foot down and positioned his body so you two are face to face, "will you stop recording please? I don't wanna answer this!", he pouted.

"It's for documentation.", was your only response.

"Documentation for what? So you can present this when we get a divorce, which is never gonna happen, Y/N? Fine.", now he sounds pissed off, "first I will take those blankets then the ice cream on the freezer.", he looked at you narrowly.

You waited for his next answer while looking at him expectedly. "And you. I will take you.", Harry said smugly and put both of his hands behind his head.

"I-", you couldn't form a coherent sentence and started laughing, "you can't take me!".

Harry laughed, "well that certainly isn't what you we're saying on the bed last night.", he smirked and your cheeks suddenly felt hot, thankfully the camera is facing him but it still recorded Harry's response.

You gasped, "oh shut up!", trying to compose yourself as you felt your body melt infront of his eyes, "answer me!".

"You got my answer baby!", your husband playfully protested, "I'm taking the blankets, the ice cream and you!", then he looked at the camera and blew a kiss.

"Oh now that's unfair!", you kicked his knee lightly, "obviously you cannot say that to the jury!".

"What jury? We're not getting a divorce!", he started tickling your feet making you laugh and kick his hands off of your feet.

"Fine!", you said and turned off the camera.

Harry opened his arms for you so you crawled to him, "what's that for?", he asked started stroking your hair.

"Just saw this video on Insta, thought I'd also want to know your answer...", you explained as you run your hands through his left arm.

"Well did my answer satisfied you?"

"You got the sweetest and funniest answer, H.", you looked up at him and smiled then he bopped your nose with his.

"Good but that's useless cause we're never going through divorce. One cause I love you, two cause the process is just tiring and three cause I love you!", he said as he pulled your body much closer to him.

You cutely snorted while positioning yourself in a much more comfortable position on top of him, "stop being cliché! But yes, we're not getting a divorce!", you smiled at him and kissed him real hard.

He moaned a bit to the kiss, "we're not divorcing, promise?", he asked.

"Promise.", you said and did the pinky promise with him.

"You never said I satisfied you with my answer so let me just satisfy you on other area.", he winked at you and carried you out of his studio making you giggle as you slapped his chest jokingly, his work before you came down now long forgotten.

And let’s just say – he certainly satisfied you in the different department that day, making you swear and promise to him not to get a divorce as he works on your body.

Let's just clear up that the divorce was not an option before but after that day where he got you knocked up, you're both certain that the divorce is now out of the picture, EVER.

A Unifying Theory of Loreography (Lore + Choreography)

(2/3/21) HELLO to all new folks finding this post! It is also now a YouTube Video, and I’m pretty happy with it so if you’d rather get your lore analysis visually please check it out! 

Preface: I don’t think it’s just coincidence that we got full choreography for an intro called “Devil is in the detail”, and I’ve made it my mission since 반박불가 dropped to pull apart the threads that might link everything, lore-wise. This morning I believe I had an epiphany about it, so here are my thoughts.

If this flops I will feel my soul exiting my body so please validate me.

Notes: In forming this theory I mostly considered the events of the storyline MVs and teasers as well as the choreography, but a very important part of my epiphanies came when considering the post-MV stingers for TBONTB and 반박불가. It’s using these stingers that I feel like I can better understand the thesis statements in the choreo. 

Part One: Now then, where were we? 

At the end of TBONTB, the monarchs are approaching monumental, pitch-black gates made of skulls and desperate, reaching hands. 

I can’t not interpret this as the gates of Tartarus, considering the Greek mythology in the canon lore already. Tartarus, however, is at the lowest depths of the underworld, and so my interpretation is that, while they reclaimed their souls from the necklace, they awoke physically in a realm beyond the underworld, and now have to make their way out of this psychological nightmare to breathe free the air, as it were. Through Tartarus, through Hell, this is not because I played 80 hours of Hades in the last three months but it might have a little to do with that. Stay with me. (Though if anyone is wondering, YES Leedo would be Zagreus, but that’s not why we’re here today)

Part Two: Devil is in the Detail 

What an opening formation. The imagery is not 100% clear to me, but I feel as if this entire opening formation sequence is dual-wielding imagery of a crown (much like the killing part of TBONTB), but also the gates of Tartarus. 

Look at this transition once Hwanwoong ascends to the top of the formation, and how the hands all come out, similar to the gates above. I’ll be damned if this is supposed to invoke anything else.

Rewinding a bit, this framing of Seoho being resuscitated and borne by their hands is stunning. Seoho’s journey in the TBONTB choreography merits its own post entirely, because there are a lot of moments that seem to be telling a story for him particularly, and this is just a continuation of that. 

Ravn and Leedo being separated for the rap line part seems like an obvious utilitarian choice, and I agree that it is. However, before we prepare to dismiss all “pairings” as serving the progression of the song itself, I have another theory that ties together a lot of the inciting moments of choreo. I promise you this is going to sound like A Reach, but that’s just how my mind works and if you enjoy it I’m glad.

Leedo, Hwanwoong, and Xion are the monarchs who have absolved themselves by the events of 반박불가, and fully reclaimed their souls as well as their conscience. Seoho and Ravn, not so much. They have a lot of work to do to free their conscience - especially Seoho. Oh, lord, especially Seoho. Keonhee is an extremely interesting case, as he seems to have a foot firmly in both sides, More on that later. 

For further paranoid conspiracy theorist proof of this, please note that their outfits in the choreography videos symbolically reflect this:

Light, Light, Light/Dark, Dark, Dark/Lightish, Light

If you need more convincing, may I point out that Leedo, Hwanwoong, and Xion are the only members who got those wonderful “all clothed in white” shots in the back half of the 반박불가 MV? I tried to make a gif, and I did make a gif, but Tumblr doesn’t want to post it in this text post.

The most interesting moments of loreography in DiitD are the following: 

1. These lotus hands. Again, the imagery, I die!! Keonhee is coming into his own, his character is blooming, expanding his consciousness, going sicko mode with the realization that he has power in the underworld. 

2. Directly following this, Seoho offers a hand to Keonhee and literally drags him down (again, the light/dark dichotomy of Keonhee), while the two good good boys Hwanwoong and Xion are back there just trying to maintain balance so they can get through this Hell/Tartarus thing. 

3. Good ol’ ONEUS Summoning Circle, but wait this time I think it’s actually meaningful beyond the imagery. Seoho is at the center because he has the vocal line, yeah obviously, but he stays there much longer than is objectively necessary without a formation change. This isn’t common in ONEUS choreography. As much as they love their Summoning Circles, they tend to move on to other formations quickly. This one has meat on its bones, and I think what’s happening here, loreography wise, are the other monarchs banding together in an attempt to save Seoho from the darkness. But Seoho is powerfully dark, y’all, even going so far as to overpower them in the moment above. 

4. This is flame imagery. Seoho has been engulfed in flames despite everyone’s best efforts. 

5. At the last minute, he gets yeeted via backflip back into Hell/Tartarus

6. Keonhee takes the initiative in going back for him...

7. We’re back in Hell, that’s just great. Thanks, Seoho. You’re lucky we love you and your extremely disturbed conscience. 

With this in mind, you can probably get way ahead of me, here. 

Part Three: 반박불가 

Perhaps not remarkably, the title track doesn’t have nearly as many loreography beats as DiitD. However, we know it’s part of the lore, and this was made abundantly clear simply with that opening move...

This is where we left off TBONTB, but not exactly. There is a slightly different formation of dancers here, which suggests it’s not picking up exactly where TBONTB left off, but rather that this is a cue to let casual fans know, explicitly: yes, this is a continuation of the TBONTB story. 

Some moments don’t have choreography allusions, but they are loud in the MV, such as:

- “Youngjo, would you stop playing with flowers, our lead vocalist is going to Hell.” Ravn, who barely scraped out of Hell last time, ostensibly with Leedo’s help according to the rap line break in the choreography, has a rough time of it in the 반박불가 MV, but Hwanwoong isn’t going to let him fall back into toxic behaviors and lose himself to that psychological prison again. Hwanwoong drags Ravn back out of Hell, but not before Ravn successfully makes contact with Seoho. Obviously, Ravn would be the one to make contact, because Ravn’s still a little on edge about his own conscience and can easily backslide if he wants to. Who does he find down there? Seoho.

- Keonhee, who led the charge to return to Hell, is staying on task but seems to be the chief of operations to Hwanwoong’s chief of intelligence here, exercising his newfound sicko mode. Those two are certainly working hardest at keeping the servants of darkness in check down in the depths so they can make a quick break for it. 

- Leedo’s actually having a grand time fighting his own demons - or rather, smirking at them and realizing that nah, he’s good. He can use his guilt and regret to motivate him towrd good things now. 

- Xion is literally just above all of this and can move between Hell and Earth with ease, so he’s just waiting to see if he has to pull any Fallen God-Prince cards here to save his friends. 

Now, for the key loregraphy moments. It’s obvious that 1Million was choreographing for a new direction in the ONEUS style, here, so it’s nearly bereft of the usual lyricism and formations, but they’re definitely there. Unsurprisingly they almost all deal with Seoho. 

1. God, this moment whips. They’re all working to free Seoho and lock the gates behind them, with Keonhee giving Seoho one final push. That’s not a normal choreography move. That is storytelling and it sticks out like a beautiful sore thumb with an entire sonnet written on it. 

2. With Seoho on lock, now Ravn may break out. He does so rather easily, but it’s not without Hwanwoong’s help. Please notice that Keonhee and Seoho are the two BEHIND him, and what that symbolizes. 

3. This fucking bridge. It’s amazing with the loreography. First of all we have Keonhee, and the Summoning Circle is using the same imagery/texture that was formerly used to represent engulfing fire. Uh-oh.

4. Keonhee reaches out...

... but gets dragged under.

5. (excited football commentator voice) but who’s that on the outside making it to the surface, literally with the support of the other monarchs? IT’S SEOHO (cheers)!!

And Seoho finishes things out in the center, as well he should because he got us into this mess.

Part Four: What just happened to Keonhee

I’m so angry at this post-MV stinger. It took me forever to wrap my brain around what is being suggested here, because I thought “hey wait, the red lighting represents darkness/hell, doesn’t it?? DOESN’T IT?? RBW???? I thought we just GOT OUT OF HELL????

So I leave the final interpretation in everyone's individual hands, but the thought that occurred to me today was: 

What if this entire scenario was a test of resolve and camaraderie, an illusion, a trick by the Devil (or that donger Helios, whatever). What if Keonhee was the only one who saw through this, and the only one who genuinely made it to Earth at the moment he appeared to have been dragged back to Hell? Because, as we know, Keonhee is a tactical genius, a monarch among the monarchs, and all his visual imagery in the MV suggested a sort of power cabal. 

What if he realized that they weren’t all strong enough to face the challenge of breaking this cycle, so he schemed to leave them behind, but leave them safe in the illusion, while he struck out with the power of God and anime on his side.

I... I think Keonhee is about to go kill and dethrone a God, y’all.

SAN

San and you were dating for 6 months. You were really close. Sharing the same braincell sometimes. As a couple, you got your good and hard times. Especially when San was jealous. You knew how to comfort him but this time, you didn’t want to.

It was summer, it means the time of parties. Ateez were invited to Oneus Summer Party. San invited you, you were his girlfriend. He knew you could have a good time, dancing, singing. As a party you wanted to look pretty for your man. So, you choose a black skinny dress and white sneakers. It was 9 pm when you hear a knock at your door. You took your jacket and opened the door. “Hi babe.” Said San. He couldn’t leave his eyes from you. But didn’t said anything, except “ready to go?” “Yes! You look gorgeous San-ie!” he nodded and went back to the car were all the members were waiting for you. When you entered the car, all their eyes were on you. “Oh, wow Y/N! You are so pretty!” Yelled Wooyoung. “Thank you!” You giggled. The rest of the road was funny, all the boys were excited. But you noticed that San was a bit distant. Maybe there was something in his mind. You’ll asked when both of you would be alone. The car stopped and the boys rushed to the big house in front of you. Oneus was not joking with this party. You saw San walking in front of you with Wooyoung and Xion. You bowed to the host and thanked him for the invitation. You heard the music being louder, everyone was shouting. Ravn with a mic in his hand, “THE PARTY CAN BEGIN!!” You joined Ateez on the dancefloor. They managed to attire all the attention because of their amazing moves. You watched your boyfriend, he was killing it. He was really enjoying dancing and singing. This career was made for him. After few minutes of dance, you find a way out of the crowd. It was hot and intense. Water was needed. You went to the bar, asking “Hi can I get a virgin Mojito?” “Yes of course, pretty lady.” Complimented you the bartender. You blushed lightly. One thought crossed your mind. Everyone said that you were pretty, but your boyfriend didn’t. Maybe he didn’t like the dress. You started to over-think when the bartender gave you your glass. “Here’s your virgin-Mojito, beautiful.” “Thank you.” You started to walk out of the bar when he said, “Can I get your number at least? I don’t want to miss the opportunity to talk with you again.” Before you have enough time to say no, you heard San voice. “Sorry but she’s taken.” Putting his hand on your waist. The other guy said sorry and went back to his work. Your boyfriend was leading you to a quiet corner. “Ouch, San! You are hurting me.” His grips on your waist was strong. He was definitively pissed. “Can you stop being so flirty with everyone?” He whispered to you. You could barely hear him because of the loud music, but his words were loud and hurtful into your heart. “What? I was just taking my cocktail, I- don’t-.” “I know how you are when you are flirting with someone!” Moving closer to your face. “No, you don’t! I wasn’t flirting with this guy!” He scoffed, “And why did you choose this dress then? It’s so short! Everyone can look at you!” You sighed, San was jealous, once again. You know now why he didn’t say anything about your outfit since he came to your house. “I wanted to look pretty for you, San-ie…” you gripped his arms slowly for comfort him. But you didn’t expect him to push you lightly. “This dress is a problem! I can’t handle it. And why are you so flirty? Why are you so easy?” You looked at him, shocked. How dare he? You just wanted to slap him, but it won’t help to fix this situation. “Okay then bye.” That’s the only words you could say at the moment. You couldn’t believe your ears. San was always happy when you made yourself pretty for him. And to be honest, you wore few skirts shorter than this dress at your dates. Angrily, you exited the party and walked towards your house. Hopefully that wasn’t too far.

MINGI

Mingi and you were good friends, well before his debut in Ateez. You both know that you have feeling each other but kind of feel shy about it. You crossed the lines many times, exchanged kisses but doing like nothing happened 1 minute later. Since the Wonderland comeback, Mingi was feeling alone and depressed because of his back pain. You decided to take care of him. But he doesn’t see this like you.

You texted Mingi for prevent that you will be at Ateez dorm in 10 minutes with a lot of movies. You received a simple “ok” 1 minute later. You couldn’t stop thinking about your friend being alone day and night since Ateez was promoting Wonderland in Korea and overseas. He told you that everything was okay, but you know how he likes to be with his team and Atinys. When you knocked at the door dorm, you weren’t expecting him to open this fast. Was he waiting for you? “Hi Mingi!” you smiled at him. “Hi Y/N. It’s been a while.” As he stepped back to let you enter in the apartment. You giggled, “I’ve been here yesterday!”. “I know but it’s long here without you.” You pushed him softly, “such a playboy” you thought. “I took good movies for us tonight!” you almost yelled from excitement. You take out all the DVDs of your bag. “Jurassic Park, Narnia, Glass...” As he looks at the cover, “Good choices Y/N.” You smiled, proud of you. You went to the kitchen for prepare the popcorn, as always. You opened all the cupboard to find the pack but nothing. “Mingi where’s the popcorn?” as you entered back to the living-room seeing your friend busy with the TV. “On the top of the fridge, I’ll help you to get it.” He stood up from the couch, but you shouted at him. “No! He loved to see Atiny’s posts, with his fake account, even follow one of them sometimes. You played the movie. He chose Narnia. You were already at the scene were the kid meet the Icy Queen, when you saw that Mingi wasn’t paying any attention to the movie. Still on his phone. “Are Atinys saying interesting things? You are not leaving your phone.” As you grab few popcorns. He hummed again. You started to be annoyed. He can be mad of course, but you were just trying to help him. Like that he could go back to Ateez, fast as possible. You put back your concentration on the movie. 30 minutes later, you noticed that he was still on his phone. Playing candy crush. “Mingi if you wanted to be alone, you could just tell me before I came here.” You said frustrated. Wooyoung were your boyfriend for 4 years. You were close before Ateez debuted. You always here with him for every big step of his life. For example, when he auditioned for KQ Entertainment because Yeosang was going there too. When he met the members of Ateez for the first time. When they released their first album. Or when they got their first win. You were with him more than you two could think. Maybe that was a problem.

The distance that he put between him and you, isn’t normal. You tried again to talk to Wooyoung. “Wooyoung are you okay?” He sighed, “Yes Y/N, I’m fine. Don’t you have anything to do?” You looked at your boyfriend again “what do you mean? As the maknae, Jongho were reserved. Always listening to his hyungs. When you started to date, he was not really someone that you could call “lovely”. Or at least not when the group was there. Of course, he was enjoying time with you but not too far.

You were with all the members at the arcade game. They got a free day. Jongho asked you to come with them since you had a day off too. “Y/N! “Fufu, I am looking forward to it. But KiLLER KiNG’s『Sexiness』......  I wonder what it will look like?”

Part 1

Tsubasa: ‘Excuse me, I brought Kitakado-san with me.’

Yashamaru: ‘Thanks, Tsubasa-chan. Sorry for taking your time, Tomo as well.’

Tomohisa: ‘No. But, it’s rare to be called out alone. Did something happen?’ 

Yashamaru: ‘Wrong, it’s not such a serious topic. I just thought of a good idea and only wanted to quickly tell you!’

Tomohisa (chuckles): ‘A good idea?’

Yashamaru: ‘Ufufu, that’s right. Before that, do you remember the flower artist Jay with whom you released the collaborated MV? It has a really good reputation, even until now~♪. It’s because you guys worked hard to convey your image to Jay-san.’ 

Tomohisa: ‘Aah…… That time was difficult. It’s quite a memory. The sunset I went to shoot with Ryuji and Tsubasa….. was unbelievably beautiful.’ 

Tsubasa: ‘Yes. The time with the both of you as well….. The sun that sets in the sea and the rising moon perfectly match the image of decadence and regeneration, which is truly impressive.’

Part 4 

ーIn the Gandara office.ー

Tomohisa: ‘It’s incomplete footage that I connected roughly…. What do you think?’

Tsubasa: ‘It is wonderful. At first, it has a cute atmosphere that gives off the feeling of KiLLER KiNG, but…. Their suggestive gazes gradually draw me into a different world and make my heart throb. The rain scene as well is an impressive end. Because Kitakado-san’s performance in the test filming was really fantastic, I was wondering if you would come out of the screen for a moment….. I was expecting it a bit.’

Tomohisa (smiles): ‘Haha, thanks. But since it’s KiLLER KiNG’s MV, I mustn’t intrude.’

Tsubasa: ‘Fufu, you are right. I am sorry.’ 

Tsubasa: ‘When the shooting of the connecting image scenes is over, the editing is left afterward, if I am not wrong.’

Tsubasa: ‘I think that the staff is also seriously facing this project because those emotions are definitely being conveyed.’

Just Another Prank...?

PART 2

The guys decided to prank you after their MV was released. It was a music video more on the mature side and you had long discussions regarding it before finally deciding to go with it. The boys loved it. But Jinyoung, and his mind, decided that it would be fun if they prank you that they suddenly did not like this mature concept on them. Yugyeom was  totally against it until the final moments trying to convince his hyungs. He said along the lines, “Just prank me then instead of her.“ #whippedculture

This was supposed to be a short imagine in celebration of Yugyeom’s birthday yesterday but it was longer than I had planned to so here’s part two! Enjoy~! ^^

PART 1

When Youngjae and Jackson went out, the two immediately rushed away from the room containing their laughters. Youngjae was hitting Jackson's shoulders nonstop when Jackson pointed out Youngjae's punch line.

"Wah I got chills bro," Jackson said in between laughs,'Good for the company then," he said mocking Youngjae's words before going out of the room.

"Hahahaha! I got chills but I also immediately wanted to laugh after that!"

"Me too! Me too! HAHAHA!" Youngjae said and then he saw Jinyoung went out of the room with his hands on his mouth containing his laughter. Jinyoung immediately went to where the two was. They were now on the stairs near the elevator on the side just far enough from the meeting room.

"I think we all are pretty good actors now," Jinyoung said, "Given the countless pranks we've done." He said and they laughed again waiting for the others to get out of the room.

“But I really have to say Yugyeom is really whipped. Like whipped, whipped.“ Both Jinyoung and Youngjae agreed to what he said.

“I saw him signalling you and Mark earlier to stop the prank,” Jinyoung was half laughing and half talking remembering how the youngest look like silently pleading to his hyungs to stop the prank.

“But they are just the same. Those lovebirds really,” Youngjae commented, “Why not just be honest with each others feelings geez.”

They were all agreeing with each other when they saw JB went out of the room. He had the same reaction when Jinyoung went outside. The three were quickly telling him to come closer to them. JB also mimicked Youngjae’s punchline before going out and they laughed again.

“But seriously, Y/N was just like Yugyeom when we first made this prank,” he said and the three others were quick to question on what happened after they all got out. JB then told them what happened.

- A little flashback here just after JB said “Let’s go.” - 

“Let’s go.” You heard JB said and was quick to face him and mouthed the words “Let’s stop this already” with a pleading face. You just can’t bear see Yugyeom being pranked like this even after countless of times they had pranked him involving you. 

Well not this time especially you have finally admitted to yourself you like the guy. Gosh he is so cute can he not? 

 Yugyeom’s back were gladly facing the three of you and could not see how the three of you exchange knowing looks. JB was quick to finally go out before he could even let out his laughter and mess up this prank. Mark was left there and gave you a reassuring look that things are just going good. 

You gave it another shot to convince him just to end this prank. You just want to hug Yugyeom and tell him that everything is just okay and that you are not in any way mad at anyone of them. Well maybe just Jinyoung because this was his plan after all. You just wanted it to end. Bambam and Mark then followed JB out leaving you and Yugyeom alone.

You were really debating whether to just admit that this was all a prank but where is the fun in that? But you also just do not want to see Yugyeom having a hard time just because of all this situation. Yugyeom was also debating on himself to let you know about this prank or at least the version of the prank he knows.

Bambam and Mark followed shortly after JB went out and got half of what he was telling the other three.

“What should we do if they both admit that this is just a prank?“ Bambam said while laughing.

“Well wouldn’t that be good? And sweet?“ Mark said, “I mean they were both pretty much against us pranking them so...“

“Hell I doubt they’d reveal that.“ Youngjae said which raised the others eyebrows, “They can’t even confess their feelings to each other that’s why!” They then were all laughing but trying to contain it as to not bother whatever you and Yugyeom were doing inside.

You and Yugyeom were still inside. You just got a message that the meeting was delayed for another 30 minutes. You were still debating on whether to tell Yugyeom that this was all just a prank but you are still distracted with how he was still playing with your hands. You were just staring at just how adorable this man is right in front of you. The audacity of you to prank him like this how could you!

Not knowing how long have you been staring at him, he called you for the third time already before you got back to your senses.

“Sorry what?“ you said still feeling his hands on yours. He was rubbing your palm and the back of your hand maybe trying to ease you from the tension earlier. So cute.

“Do you want to say something to me?“ he asked and got you dumbfounded.

Yes you have something, actually many things you wanted to say to him right now. First is that, ‘My Gyeomie this is just a prank on you, again, unfortunately. Jinyoung said this was slightly your idea because you said that you’d rather be pranked than me right? Why? Why are you so sweet? Am falling deeply more in love with you. Oh and that. Yes. I’ve been in love with you since I don’t even exactly remember when. Maybe when you were away during your military service? I don’t know. I just am. I mean how could I not right? You are so adorable like this and all. I really wish I could kiss you right now.’

“Hm?“ you managed to react somehow coming back to reality. “I just --“ before you could even finish you two were met with JB entering the room again with the others. 

“Yah, I said let’s go and you’re still here?“ he told Yugyeom. You were quick to catch Jinyoung signalling you that this is also part of the prank and eased you a little. You were quick to put on your smug face but you wanted this to end already. 

“Hyung let’s stop this already.“ Yugyeom stood up and said that.

“Okay let’s end this.“ Bambam said and you knew what was coming. This is the part you all agreed on. You and Bambam would get into a fight and you’d be mad that this was all just a prank. Especially when they targeted your work in this. When you first heard about their initial plan, you were really taken aback and said that you’d be really upset if they really did that to you. But then here you are part of the prank which is now directed to Yugyeom.

“This was all supposed to be a prank until you said that you agreed with this concept because it could sell.“ Bambam said and Yugyeom was quickly behind you trying to soothe you of whatever emotion you’d be feeling right now. You are now trying to get to your act thinking of what could be your reaction to this if this was true. If anything, Yugyeom knew you better and one slightly off acting and he’d probably suspect something. So you tried to get all your emotions right. I should be angry this is so stupid.

“What? What are you saying?“ You said trying to sound as hurt, disappointed and angry but Bambam, you could just punch him right there. Yugyeom on the other hand is really not liking the atmosphere.

“This was just a prank? This was supposed to be a prank? You guys were pranking me and my work? What?“ You were really at a loss for words now. You really would have reacted like this is they had pranked you for real. You could not even believe the first time you were hearing what they planned when they initially decided to prank you. “What the actual fuck guys.“ You just said trying to sound as pissed as possible.

“Hey, we’re sorry okay,” Mark said, “We were really out of line here.“

“Yeah we were really okay with the music video and all. We’re sorry,“ Youngjae said, “But we really did not expect you to say that you just went with the concept because you thought it would sell.“ 

“Yeah. It’s like your true colors were showing.“ Bambam said and that really tick you off a bit even though you know that you and Bambam were supposed to fight and Yugyeom would intervene for this prank to be a success.

“So is that true?“ JB asked, “Well yeah!“ You said, “I’m a producer after all what do you expect? And don’t think for a second that I would just let this go. My god.“ 

“Yeah we expected better from you, you know after all this years of ‘prioritizing’ us.” Bambam said mocking the word ‘prioritizing’ with his hands on quotation marks.

“What the hell is your problem?!” you said more angrily than you intended to sound like. Yugyeom was quick to get infront of you trying to calm you down but you just pushed him aside. You were still able to have a glimpse of his worried look before continuing. 

“Hm? Out of all of them you are the only one who haven’t apologized for this childish prank of yours yet. Huh?“ you asked and he just scoffed causing you to really get irritated this time. Yugyeom was holding your wrist while the Jackson was trying to calm Bambam down.

“Because if not for this prank we would not even know that you really did not care about us.“ He firmly said, “You’re just like the other producers who follow orders blindly for the sake of the company.“ That hit hard on you although you know it was just a prank. Besides Yugyeom, Bambam was also the one who mostly saw your side and how you fought for them whenever the situation arises so it really breaks your heart to hear it from him even though it was just part of the prank. Yugyeom was also on the edge beside you. He could not believe that his best friend would be able to say those things. It is not a secret to him that Yugyeom has liked you for a long time now. He even told Bambam to take care of you when he was in the military and may or may not told him not to let other guys hit on you until he came back. 

“Bambam please,“ Yugyeom said and he was already infront of you trying to shield you away from Bambam. Why should he really be this sweet?

“What? You’re siding with her?“ Bambam said unamusingly.

“Bambam, just drop it already okay? She might have just said that because she was also angry over the situation. Please let’s just cool our heads off and talk later on. This prank is over.“ Yugyeom said but Bambam only stepped forward but Jackson and Jinyoung were quick to stop him.

“What? What are you gonna do huh?“ You said trying to pick a larger fight. Whatever you also just want this prank to be over and hug and apologize to Yugyeom for this. More than anything, Yugyeom hates this situation because his best friend and the girl he loves were having an argument over this silly prank he was against with in the first place.

“Not apologizing for this stupid prank and now picking a fight just because I stated facts?“

“See? It was true! She’s just like any other producer!“ Bambam said pointing at you trying to get others sympathy. 

You were also marching forward but Yugyeom won’t budget in front of you. He does not think this would go any physical but he’s just preventing what could possibly happen. 

“That is my work!“ you yelled and marched forward again Yugyeom still not budging. “You prank me and it turned out like this and you’re mad? This is so funny to me Bambam. And you haven’t even apologize yet.“

“I have nothing to be sorry about.“ he said and the others were already trying to get him out of the room but he was trying to come at you but Yugyeom was standing in between you now. 

“You know what you are really childish and disrespectful what the actual fuck.“ you said and that was it. The room was a mess with all the shouting of “What did you say?!“, “What are you gonna do about it huh?!”, “Stop it guys!”, “Guys let’s get some fresh air okay?”, “Please calm down!” and everyone trying to restrain you guys from physically going near each other.

Yugyeom was still trying to protect you from them but you were able to stretch your arms to reach Bambam and Yugyeom assumed that you would pull his hair but instead Bambam yelled. 

“ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS!” The room was then filled with shouting and laughter as you won with scissors because Bambam played paper.

“HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA!“ Youngjae’s laugh was over the top and filled most of the room. You also can’t help but laugh seeing Yugyeom so dumbfounded about what just happened. You and Bambam were jumping in your own circle celebrating the success of this prank while Yugyeom was watching the two of you who he thought would literally bite each other seconds ago.

“What...“ he said unknowingly and Mark was patting his shoulders still laughing. JB was also quick to record everything that is why he was just being silent since earlier. 

You looked over Yugyeom with apologetic eyes but still laughing with the other guys.

“Ah, ah!“ He said in frustration and sat down on the swivel chair roughly ruffling his hair. “I SHOULD HAVE SENSED IT!“ he said and Jinyoung was quick to hug the younger one while still laughing. He had his head lock but Yugyeom was struggling to get out of the embrace. “YAH! YOU REALLY GUYS. AAAAH!“ when they all went to him, you and Bambam went to him together and had a group hug. 

“I’m sorry they dragged me into this!“ You said still laughing but also feeling so sorry for this baby. He’s still the maknae and this will probably go on for the rest of their lives together. Before you knew it Bambam got out of the group hug and it was just you and Yugyeom hugging each other. You repeatedly apologized but Yugyeom just tightened his hug.

“I’m relieved really.” you heard him and he did not say anything again after that. You two broke into the hug when the other guys were loudly re-enacting what just happened. JB was still filming and you saw it and waved to his recording phone. 

He asked you how it feels to have pranked Yugyeom again but on a much bigger scale. “I’m glad and relieved that it’s done.” you said and he just gave you a teasing look. You again celebrated the success of the prank and the boys would not shut up if not for your and their own meeting. Yugyeom gave you a quick hug again which you also took the chance to once again apologize. 

“It’s okay.“ he said patting your hair, “I’ll see you later?” you nodded and proceeded to your schedule that day.

The day went longer than expected with the meetings being pushed back as the other ones were extended. It was exhausting.

You were about to go out your office when you heard a knock followed by a head peeping on the door. You chuckled at how he managed to look cute despite his towering height.

“Dinner?” he asked and you immediately got up your seat.

You dined in the usual place near the building. There were not many people there now as it was nearing midnight.

“What time is your schedule tomorrow? Why are you still awake anyway?“ you said stuffing your mouth with food. You have not eaten anything except that snack you had after that prank. 

“Eat slowly.“ he said laughing at you, “We start at 5 but that’s okay. I couldn’t sleep anyway. After what happened.” he said grinning and it made you feel guilty again because of the prank. You said your nth sorry and he also reassured you many times now that it is okay.

“I was really relieved that it was just a prank. I could not bear that my best friend and my ---“ he stopped trying to figure out what should he call you or refer to you as. “I could not bear to see my two best friends fight like that.“

He then walked you home. He insisted. You did not want to because he might not wake up early for his schedule tomorrow and might feel tired after but you also wanted to spend more time with him. When you got to the elevator of your building, you were shocked because he rode with you. He usually just drops you off the building. You just did not say anything. This silence is not awkward but rather comforting. You do not have any problem talking to Yugyeom about your concerns in anything but you also do not have an issue being with him and not talking at all. It was just perfect and calming.

You reached your unit and turned around to thank him.

“You really did not need to walk me until here,“ you said trying to be playful but you sensed that Yugyeom was kind of serious and nervous at the same time.

“No, it’s okay. I really wanted to make sure you get home safely.“ he said and waved goodbye but he stopped when you suddenly asked, “Why?“

He was as confused as you were. What the hell did just really came out of my mouth I was just thinking about it!

“Why what?“ he asked and you were unsure of what you really wanted to ask so you asked both. “I mean why do you want to make sure I’m safely home? And also,“ you then exhaled nervously before continuing, “Why did you say that they’d rather prank you than me? I mean, why?“ Silence filled the hallway as you both struggled to find your balance. You did not think of the consequences of this question and was also confused as to what answer were you trying to get out of him. Honestly, you were expecting something but was as nervous that your expectations would not be met.

“I just, I like,” he stopped before looking straight into your eyes as if those holes are already telling you what he still could not say, “I like you. I like you Y/N.“

You froze right then and there. You also just blinked and he was really close to you now. “I’m sorry it took this long to finally get my courage to confess to you but yeah. I like you.” he said looking at you still waiting for your reaction.

“Is this a prank?“ you said and you both had little giggles.

“No, of course not.“ he said and he cupped your face and looked at you lovingly. “I’d play pranks on you but not this one.“ he said and you just nodded still dumbfounded of what you just heard. “So?” he said and he laughed and said he’d just see you tomorrow because you looked tired.

“No,“ you said gaining your senses. You were just so taken aback by his presence and how he just confessed that he likes you and what the hell are you doing zoning out on him when you could have just tell him that you like him too?

“I mean yeah I’m bit tired but I do. I like you too.“ you said and you just saw how his whole face and even aura lit up after hearing that. He wasted no time and pulled you into an embrace lifting you a little and spinning you lightly around. “Sorry, sorry. I’m just too excited,“ he said, “Clearly.” you both chuckled and just enjoyed that moment. You are both holding your hands and looking at how it perfectly fits each other. 

Yugyeom then closed the gap between you two. You were anticipating to meet his lips with yours but you felt a warm and loving peck on your forehead instead. You just smiled at just how sweet Yugyeom is and it is just melting your heart that he likes you too. You let out a shy chuckle before jokingly punching his chest.

 “Stay with me tonight?“ you asked but it sounded more like a demand. He nodded eagerly and just how cute he is blushing there in front of you.

“I have an early schedule tomorrow okay?“ he smiled sheepishly as you were trying to open your unit’s door. 

“What? I said just stay with me tonight!“ you said bashfully and he just nodded teasingly. Seriously what are you going to do with him?

You finally opened the door and knew you were a goner then. Who cares about tomorrow’s schedule right?

Okay this turned out longer than expected that is why I decided to divide it into two parts and am just figuring out Tumblr hahahaha! This is in celebration of Yugyeom’s birthday yesterday thus the part one posted yesterday. Director’s Cut: Mess We Made

This will have several parts because…because.

You looked back, making out Baekhyun's features through tears. “Let go,” you snapped, trying to shake him off.

“Where are you going this late?!”

“Anywhere is better than here with you! I cannot stay with you, Baekhyun!” you shouted, finally yanking him off harshly enough so his hand slipped.

You slammed the door shut and Baekyhun was met with silence. Throwing a single, helpless gaze at his friend was enough for Chanyeol to nod and move. “I'll go after her,” he reassured Baekhyun who seemed to be on the verge of mental breakdown.

Baekhyun just nodded, watching Chanyeol leave and hoping you wouldn't actually break up with him.

This part = two things. First is obvious: characters are fighting which was quite rare up until this point. It’s a huge fight, because they both know the separation is coming. I loved writing this; passionate argument in which both of them are right, though Baek more than OC. We can, time and time again, see OCs selfishness, her wanting Baek just for herself, her wanting him to be next to her even if she would be married to another man, tying Baek down. Totally unfair, and Baek speaking up about this fact makes OC even angrier. I love it, they love each other. Sparks fly, and the line between love and hate is thin. Thankfully, it never came to hatred.

Second thing is sth no one ever talked about. It’s so minuscule but I think it’s so cool and important. Chanyeol is a great friend. A simple look from Baek and Chanyeol knew what he had to do to help out his friend. Even if it meant chasing the “princess” girlfriend he secretly didn’t like much because the relationship was ruining Baekhyun. We all need that one friend I think. Also, Baek cares about OC so much, he wouldn’t want her to leave the house in such a state, even though they just had one of the biggest fights ever.

“Mr Kwon, please meet my daughter,” she introduced you before continuing, “and this is Mr Kwon Minheob, your fiancée. Greet him properly!” she ordered but you didn't even process what she said.

Standing frozen, your arms were about to let go of the bouquet you just received were it not for Baekhyun who was fast enough to get the flowers out of your grasp. “Oh, that's great news! I'll take these for you!” he exclaimed with a smile and you looked at him with pure horror in your eyes. “Congrats by the way! I will miss you as my classmate!” he added and quickly bowed to your parents. “I'll see you around someday!” And with that, he turned and left.

In that instance, many things were swirling around in your brain - complete, utter shock, overwhelm, fear, heartbreak. What did Baekhyun just do? Why did he say that? And where was he going-

This this this 😭 Baekhyun who loves OC so much- literally bailed when he found out his girlfriend whom he loved so much was meeting her future husband. He understood the situation; he could always read OC’s family better than OC herself. He was always prepared, he would do anything that would help preventing issues/trouble/punishment for his girlfriend. Baek is quite out of this world kind of boyfriend in this story. And this scene right here spoke volumes about him.

Director’s cut: Quit Your Life

”Choose your fighter, hot cheeks.”

You were in a run down warehouse, cautiously walking in between empty cages. Huge, emptily cages. Cages for humans.

“Don’t worry,” said Suho, the boss, as he was casually leading you around, his hair combed back, revealing a handsome forehead. You figured he must be rich. “This isn’t some sort of dungeon for torture, nor psychos. Although, I have to say the one we are looking for is closest to being one,” he snickered, his small nose wrinkling with the action.

Well, that made you... not happy at all. Spending time with someone borderline crazy was not what you needed when you were already facing danger in your mundane life.

“So he won’t like, throw me in the pit and bury me alive right?” You tried to joke expecting Suho to follow you, but he gave you a side look.

“I’m not here to guarantee something that is out of my control. If he deems it correct, you might as well expect to sniff the daffodils from under.”

“You are charming.”

“It’s also called honest.”

I love Suho’s character in this story. Sadly he appeared only for that one scene but I loved it!!! While writing him, I really felt that impact he has on the OC as well as the shifting authority towards Baekhyun when he tried to tell him to stop his antics. I tried to portray the real life Suho in a way - after all, Baekhyun drives him crazy all the time 😃 and! The Suho in this story was purely based off of the vibes I got from him in Obsession MV. Just loved this entire scene!

“Baek, meet your new salary.”

“I have a name,” you reminded and tried not to flinch when said Baek suddenly stood up, his movements sharp, collected. Very smooth. He made a few steps towards the bars of the cage, his lips stretching only on one side of his face, giving him exactly the nickname he wasn’t supposed to have. A psycho.

“Who is this salary? Put a name to the number.”

“I hope if I say a lot it shows just enough for you,” you replied, not avoiding eye contact that he had yet to reciprocate.

“You’ll have one job only,” interrupted Suho, pushing his hands in the pockets of his expensive dress pants. “Protect her at all costs.”

Baek looked up at you and, for the first time, your eyes actually met. It was then that you spotted his aura, the dark, lethal shade of red sending chills down your spine, giving you a hard time not to physically shudder. If his whole persona didn’t already confirm it to you, it sure as hell did now.

“Hmm, seems like we have a connection, my lady.”

This part is super confusing. We don’t know whether Baekhyun can actually feel the soulmate aura. In this scene he casually mentions the connection 2x. Later on he will bring it up again. There could be a possibility Baek could see other peoples auras too. It was never confirmed but this gives a hint; it only enhances his mysterious, hidden character. Either way I loved him in this scene; wicked, funny, playful, a little flirty and smooth. I don’t think there is a part of Quit Your Life that I didn’t love writing. If anything, I regret not writing more!

Lie to Me Theory: Music Video

Start Here: Lie to Me Theory: Timeline 

There is no way to beat around this part of theory. It must be approached directly and bravely. All of what has happened in the timeline to here has left people distracted. So no one would be looking for the ultimate truth in a video about lying. Luke is singing. He addresses four different people. Everyone is represented by cars: three different parties. Two different agendas for being in relationships. All stemming from one reason. 

First we need to talk about the two truly significant elements of the Lie to Me Music Video: the lyrics and the center car. 

What do we mean by lyrics? The ones available on AZlyrics or Genius? The ones they’re singing? Not this time.

From the video description.

Artist frequently put their lyrics in the description of their videos. 5SOS does this on a number of their videos. This is the only one of their videos where the lyrics in the description 1. from a different version of the song and 2. have a typo in them

Here is one of the screenshots of the LTM Official MV that I took.

These were the official lyrics that Ashton, Calum and Luke wrote with Ali Tamposi. And then a very talented and good female singer, Julia Michaels, was brought in so they could make the official lyrics publicly available

It is strange that they would do this. Why not just leave both versions of the lyrics under the proper versions of each video? Unless the lyrics of the official audio version aren’t actually the right lyrics.

It is careless and weird that the grammar on most of their videos (all of their other music videos) is good and then suddenly on LTM the first typo on a music video appears. They would have caught it and fixed it by now, surely. 

These boys don’t know how to spell “Change” huh? ‘Chang’

Don’t know how to edit the description of a YouTube video? Forgot to? Don’t care to?  Remember when Michael told Luke on twitter to go back to school.

Change is the only word mispelled in the description of any of their music videos...because the lyrics were “Changed.” 

Yes, it is entirely possible something this cryptic occurred. 

Think Think Think

The cleverness within this band should not be underestimated. Time and time again, artists under Modest! have used covert means to convey the truth of their situations without the majority of their audiences noticing. 

These in the description are the original lyrics of LTM. The lyrics of the official release were changed to fit the image that management wanted to promote. This seems to be the implication, so interpretation of the music video rests on these lyrics and not the ones they are singing.

Symbolic Cars

This part was easy for people to pick up on. 

Represented on the passenger side of the center car by 96 like Hemmo1996.

Then there’s the other side of the car.

Represented on the driver’s side of the center car by these two lower-cased letters: ae.  So who’s ae?

There are a number of options for people special enough in Luke’s life that he might want in the car with him, in fact, a person he cares enough about that that person might be the driver. A person with ae in their name. So there’s a lot of those. What narrows down the options is that ae is a person who is close to  Luke but in the same situation as Luke. They are both circled by cars that represent threats to their wellbeing. So you can decide who ae is. It couldn’t be a coincidence that this video was released the week of Michael Clifford’s engagement. That would be ludicrous.

Now we can talk about the video story

L can see the mess before he agrees to be a part of it. The two cars are already circling like sharks before he gets into the car. He still gets into the car, sitting in the backseat. He’s surrendered for the next half of the video. Pain and heartbreak etched into his face. 

The circling cars represent “toxic people” like Ashton clued. So the circling cars are toxic relations.

He addresses the first chorus primarily to the circling car with toxic person #1.  This is a person who left him not only emotionally fraught but publicly humiliated him and scarred his reputation, then dropped all responsibility for fun and left him to do the clean up.

And now I wish we never met

I know he’s taking off your dress

And I know that you don’t, but if I ask you if you love me

The easy interpretation: 

1.     The person involved is sleeping with someone else but L isn’t angry that he’s been betrayed. Maybe because he loves her so much he could even forgive that...or maybe because he actually never loved her.

2.    Her marks on his life still causes a lot of grief because she publicly humiliated him and took no responsibility, so this is why all his regret stems from being stuck in the dump she threw him into 

3.     But he’s in communication with her---so he can ask her questions. Like if she still loves him. But that doesn’t make sense if he didn’t even like her that much.

“LTM represents when someone is in a relationship for something other than what you are there for.” Like fame or publicity, but Luke is using her for something else entirely.

Luke was being used because he was in a vulnerable situation. He still is in a vulnerable situation. It made it easy for others to hurt him but he didn’t rely on them. 

He starts by regretting the toxic relationship, but in these last two lines, he is turning to a different person, his person. 

Luke’s voice lifts at the end of each chorus as he turns to his last hope. “And I know that you don’t” because he sees how disgusted the person must be by the situation “but if I ask you if you love me, I hope you lie...” I hope you’ll love me. Despite how much you couldn’t--don’t like me.  

It’s 3 am and the moonlight’s testing me

And now I can’t sleep (Ah)

This verse starts immediately after the first time we get to see the driver’s side of the car where it says ae. This is extremely coincidental. It’s shifting focus onto another person. 

So he’s addresses ae basically, ‘I feel tested. I’ve turned to you and begged you to take me, but you’ve been acting like me, holding on to the same stories I’ve been through with a toxic person. It worries me. I am not happy. But I am also not mad at you.’

 Luke holds back from accusing ae even though he would like to. He is wounded again by ae’s actions but he does not want to outright blame ae for the situation that they are both stuck in the center of. 

 Flashing back to New York City

Remember thinking that I got this right

‘Flashing back’ is when we recall memories. Nostalgia sets in for a better time. The first pre-chorus, Luke has a balance he is reminiscing about when he at the time thought he could balance both of his relationships perfectly. There was turmoil of course--the need to re-negotiate flights because of a mess up with leaving to New York--but it was alright after that and that’s why he was led into a false sense of security that he got this “right.” Did anyone ever have to change flights when they were trying to leave New York city because of a mistake. 

It’s funny that I thought this typo was on purpose because the official lyric again is ‘Change your flight so you stay with me’ but if it was really meant to be ‘changed’ then it would fit a dual purpose, warning us about the lyric flop and talking about that one time someone had their flight changed when they were trying to stay with Luke too. I’m dropping hints like bombs but I’m not saying what I’m talking about yet and it’s hilarious and terrible. Later post I promise. 

Flashing back to New York City

I was done but you undid me

Classic me to run when it feels right

The second time, Luke runs away from New York City, symbol of stability and security within his relationship with ae. He was done--he didn’t have any interest in connection with any of the toxic ones--but you undid me--again the theme of being humiliated and having a slaughtered reputation, the pain that goes with that. And now after the 3am verse  Luke is with ae, and done with TP #1, but ae’s ‘someone else,’ the second circling car, the other toxic person, is there to ruin Luke’s life again but by being attached to ae. This time Luke wants out. He’s so done already but this person is causing him double the agony that the last one did because he’s involving someone he cares for deeply. And he leaves the car before either of the circling cars smash into it. There is no Luke to hurt. Luke got out when “it feels right.” He knew this time that things were going well with ae but he gave up on ae because he was tired.

While Luke was humiliated, and went through a great deal of grief because of his toxic relationship, at no time during the car collisions do we see 96. Instead, the footage of the driver’s side of the car with the prominent ae is flipped so it looks as though the wheel of the car is on the right side passenger side of the car. It’s as though everything that once applied to Luke’s situation now applies to ae’s cause holy shit.

As it turns out, ae takes the hardest hit. The tempo is the most upbeat it was the entire video during the last chorus.  Luke is still surrendered to the situation but he’s protesting against the way they have been treated. Now all the boys are united, not just watching Luke. They’re all supporting each other. Luke is talking to Toxic Relationship person 2 in this chorus. He is stronger now. He’s done this before and the boys are supporting him. He’s standing up for ae. 

Last chorus:

'Cause you're too hard to forget 

While he's taking off my dress 

I know she's laying on your chest

The relationship between himself and ae is the strongest it’s ever been, but even when ae’s taking off Luke’s clothes, Luke can tell that ae’s toxic relationship weighs on his heart. It is as though she is laying on his chest like depression weighs on the heart. Also this is gay if it’s real.

The last part “I know that you don’t....” is repeated twice with many desperate pleas for lies. It is repeated twice for both types of relationships: toxic and ae. 

For toxic, he hopes that they pretend that they love him. He’ll even sing their lies. For ae, he hopes whenever they are in public playing their games of animosity, if he ever slips up and does something loving or a giveaway, he hopes ae will lie about loving Luke too and follow through playing their pretend game of hate because it’s the only way to avoid making the situation worse, and that’s the one thing the management and the boys want. 

Then the car explodes

Because he knows, they know, it’s not going to work. All the lies are going to blow them up. So the car explodes. Showing ae. The lies literally made ae explode. 

An hour after the Lie to Me Music Video premieres, Michael’s fiancee announces publicly that they are engaged.

The One with the Polaroids

summary: whilst cleaning their closet, nobi stumbles upon a box that she thought she lost 5 years ago

to say the least, it was dirty.

ever since they moved in 2 years ago, the dorm hasn’t been properly cleaned because they were either too busy with touring or too lazy to do it. but it has gotten to the point where they actually were willing to clean everything. part of the reason might’ve been the boredom and the need to do something productive and the other reason could be that they would like to grab something without dusting it off first.

nobi and jungkook first started cleaning their room and around their beds. with having the biggest room in the dorm, they took a while to fully dust, vaccum, and throw away random garbage they found either under their beds or under their desks.

“ew, kook, why is there a banana milk box here?” she whined in disgust when she saw it under his bed.

jungkook merely shrugged and continued wiping the windows. “i don’t know. probably had a late snack.”

“dear god, jeon jungkook, we have a trash can for a reason!” she chided but he just turned to give her a grin.

“sorry.”

sighing, she got up from the floor and fluffed up the millions of pillows on her bed before grabbing the broom to sweep under her own bed. there was just paper balls and socks in the mix but she noticed a hoodie that she thought she really lost forever ago.

“oh my god!” nobi squealed and picked it up, examining it. it looked the same except it just had dust bunnies. “my stussy jacket!”

jungkook finished his job and looked over to what she was squealing for and gave her a look. “you mean my stussy jacket?”

laughing at his question, nobi walked over to him and patted his cheek. “sharing is caring, bub.”

a knock from their bedroom door made her go and answer it, finding jin at the other side.

“just saying that we have all the washers running so you might wait a while to run your guys’ stuff,” jin explained causing her to pout.

“this is why i keep saying that we should buy another. it’s a hassle with only 5 washers,” she pouted. jin smiled before ruffling her hair.

“once one of them is done, i’ll tell you.”

jungkook picked up a striped sock before tossing it to his laundry basket so that it could be washed. it baffled him of how many socks he has, considering he walks around the house barefoot.

once jin left, nobi went to their closet and opened the door, revealing the tons of clothing hanging on both top and bottom. it was split into 2 sections with jungkook’s and her clothing separate. but honestly, there was no use as she used his clothing most of the time. 

“hey, jungkook, should we wash all of our clothes? i mean, some of these haven’t been washed in several months. probably, since we moved,” she said.

he followed her inside and went to the very back of the closet, noticing that there was actually dust on the shoulder of one of his jackets. he took it off the long bar and examined it, forgetting he even owned it.

“do you remember this jacket, bub?” he asked making nobi look at him.

she looked at it and furrowed her eyebrows before shaking her head no. “i don’t think i’ve seen it before.”

“hm, maybe we should donate some of our clothes that we don’t own anymore. its good to give to those who need it rather than letting it sit here.”

nobi looked at him, shocked. “wah, jeon jungkook! you sounded so mature just now!”

he rolled his eyes and shoved her shoulder to hide the redness of his cheeks. “shut up. i’m always mature.”

she grabbed a big laundry basket for them to put their clothes in and they placed the hangers back on its place. nobi was amazed at how big their closet was and how small it felt when they it used to cramped with clothing. as they neared the end of the line, she saw a few boxes on the very back corner that looked like its never been touched.

she crouched in front of it and inspected it to see her handwriting, ‘2015′. lifting the boxes individually, she placed it by the foot of her bed and got out a pocket knife to cut through the packing tape that sealed it shut. jungkook noticed her with the boxes and sat on her bed as she wrenched the cardboard box open.

inside, there were many little trinkets from what looked to be tickets to a movie, a shonen jump magazine, a red jacket, and a smaller box at the bottom. carefully placing the stuff on top of her bed, she pulled out the black box and she felt a familiarity with it.

“ah! that box!” jungkook pointed. she looked at him in confusion.

“this?” she held up before lifting the lid open, finding an old polaroid camera with different pictures.

nobi held up the black and white object and blew the dust away, making jungkook cough as it was directed as his face. he made a sound of surprise but she paid him no mind, fingers reaching for the polaroids that were a mix of colored and black and white.

“did i... did i forget about these?” she whispered, hurt and angry at herself for not remembering about these precious memories.

“to be honest, i even forgot about it. maybe the members too,” he reassured.

there was one from her birthday. in the bottom, it was written, ‘nov 7 2014′ while the picture was of her with icing all over her face and carrying the birthday cake. she had a wide grin on her face and a party hat on her head.

“oh my god.. i remember these now,” she quietly stated. “this was one of the things that i took with me when i became a trainee. it was originally my mum’s.”

jungkook softly smiled at her and he gently grabbed her hand to sit on the bed where she was situated between his legs with her back against his chest. he rested his chin on her shoulder while she sifted through several more pictures.

all of these were the memories of her youth yet they were sealed away in a box, only to be found years later.

as much as there were pictures of her members, jungkook was in most of them. from the simplest things like catching him staring at the camera to the happier things like their picnic in Han river that one night. he was present in almost all of the pictures and the camera lens was most familiar of his face.

nobi took a minute to fully look at this picture of her and kook where they were both lounging on her top bunk with their backs against the wall and her head on his shoulder while his rested on top of hers. the light hit them perfectly and the white walls shined the setting sun behind them. she remembered asking tae to take the picture and them fearing for their lives when their combined weight rattled the bed with the slightest movement. they both wore white and both of their hair was as messy as it could be.

it was labeled, ‘may 8 2014′, in black sharpie marker.

“god, my bare face was so bad back then.” her complaints made jungkook gently pinch her side.

“you were and have never been ugly.”

she turned her head to look at him, “yah, remember when i forgot to wash my face for 2 days and suddenly acne popped out of nowhere?”

he laughed and hugged her tighter. “you were forgetful. actually, still is. and you were too busy practicing in the studio to remember that you needed to take care of yourself too.”

a sad smile slowly replaced her grin, “but when i did remember, there was no cleanser left. i didn’t have money to buy more so i just endured it.”

“i think i used it all up. does my apology still count today?” he playfully asked to lighten her mood.

but the pain didn’t leave. “i remembered begging my parents for money. i wanted to have enough money to take care of all of us and put the company’s money to the music video.”

jungkook grew silent as she relived the time in their past where they struggled financially. it was a time where they almost disbanded because of their lack of money and not being financially stable enough to create their mv.

“i took the last bit of money i had to go to Jeju and i threw all my shame out of the window by asking them for more money. taehyung cried because he was hungry but we already spent our food money for the month. the imo from the restaurant has fed us so many times and never asked anything in return. that was when i knew i had to do something,” said nobi. “our manager was already doing so much for us and i didn’t want to ask for more.”

she never told him or the members this so he stared at her, sad and slightly upset that she burdened herself so early on. jungkook could faintly remember her disappearing for a few days and turning up a few days later with food from the convenience store. the angry outburst from yoongi being so worried for her still echoes in his memory to this day.

“i didn’t want all of our hard work to go to waste. i knew if we didn’t have any money, we would be forced to break up and i didn’t want to leave you guys. even if they didn’t help us, i wanted to think that i did everything i can to keep us together and i fought every battle with my all. we were just starting and the thought of it ending so quickly scared me.”

“we fought those battles and we won them all, nobi. we won them together,” he soothed. jungkook could feel her relax into his chest and he placed a kiss on her hair to remind her that he is there for her.

“god, i just brought the mood down, didn’t i?” she laughed. jungkook shook his head no.

“hm, no. you’ve always kept these things to yourself and never speak out whenever you have troubles. so, hearing you talk about this makes me happy because i feel like you’re finally opening up to me, bub.”

nobi swung her legs so she was able to look at him and wrapped her arms around his neck, softly tugging at the hair at the nape of his neck. jungkook looked down at her with a curious smile while he rested his hand on her knee, caressing it gently.

“nah, i like keeping these things to myself. it gives me the mysterious vibes that i want. when people get curious about you, that’s when they instinctively stick around to try and figure you out. it’s like i’m running away and you’re after me to finally figure me out. i try to play hard to get,” she countered.

he chuckled before bumping her forehead with his. “is that why i’m still with you?”

“the chase is not over yet, jeon jungkook-ssi.”

“then i’ll chase you till it is.”

with their cleaning tools scattered around the floor and previous intention of laundry wiped from their minds, they spent the next few hours using up the leftover film in the camera. nobi tried to make it as aesthetically pleasing as possible with her posing on the bed with a fake rose or jungkook standing by the window. 

“wah, i feel bad for ARMY who can’t have these pictures. maybe we should post them?” she curiously asked while waiting for the picture to develop. he blanched at her question.

“yah, these are too intimate to be revealed to hundreds of millions of people in the internet!” he bursted causing her to laugh out loud. he sat up from the bed as he was previously laying, thinking of different picture ideas.

“i know. im just teasing. its cute to see you so jealous,” she smirked.

jungkook pouted and tutted. “i’m not jealous. i just try to help and look out for your innocent image.”

nobi walked towards him from the window and stood between his legs, jungkook loosely holding her hips. she pushed the hair that was covering his forehead and placed a soft kiss on it.

“i think we all know that concept has been out of the window since we turned legal.”

Astronaut theory

first of all, I am confusion lol

SKZ broke me in a way that my mind is overthinking so many things that now I believe that anything from their MVs might be a sign. And may I add that Chan's recent live only made me even more confused PLS BOY IF YOU SEE THIS DROP THE THEORY YOU SAID WAS QUITE CLOSE TO THE TRUTH cause I'm nearly losing my mind, I need answers!!!!

so here I am again trying to understand their concept and trust me, it's not easy or short and I don't even know if it's right which makes me even more frustrated... also, we may have lost some important pieces to connect the whole story bc we don't know what was taken from the original MV with ot9, so yeah…

anyways... let me put a guide for you guys cause I'm not gonna write the title of the songs all the time, so AS = Astronaut; DK = Double Knot; MH = Miroh; SE = Side Effects; VS = Victory Song; YW = Yellow Wood (teaser); D9 = District 9; IAY = I Am You

Alright, let’s go back to the beginning! In I Am Not teaser we see that each one has a specific function inside the system or is doing sth very particular, Felix is dancing in front of mirrors on a rooftop (where they always are on their MVs) with a building nearby that shows a sign with FAKE on it – clearly indicating that either Felix is fake or their reality is fake, or maybe both; Changbin is in a room full of TVs like MIA; Seungmin is drawing sth that looks like a map (but I guess it was supposed to be sth else?) but he’s also the one in charge of the maps in Double Knot; we have Hyunjin trying to control a VR system, he looks quite frustrated with it, and after Hyunjin removes the headset, we hear a sound similar to when a program is being interrupted on tv and his image is frozen, probably bc he was disconnected from the main system.

and the most intriguing part: we have Jeongin in a bus – also sth reoccurring in their MVs – and he sees another Jeongin sitting on the bus stop, as if waiting for him. We all know by now that it’s a double, a clone, or whatever you may call it (like I mentioned previously on my Side Effects analysis that clearly shows they have ‘shadows’ like other selves copying their moves).

we don’t see what happens afterwards, but I’m gonna assume he finds out something is not right in the system and probably tells Chan (their leader) about it. Why I think this? Because in MIA they both sing the following lines: “Something is different, carefully look around you” (which is exactly what Chan does in D9) and “Something is changing, even if you hide it so hard, I can see it all” (which is what Jeongin does on the bus and also in Miroh, cause he’s the one in the control room, right?). But the thing is… I believe that the fake Jeongin is the one with SKZ in District 9. The double took his place after he got off the bus and is acting like Jeongin would, helping SKZ and all, but his line “better watch out” shows sth different, it seems somehow too menacing, almost like a threat – at least to me. So SKZ better watch out now cause there’s a fake among them, but SKZ is unaware

moving on.. it’s also in MIA that we see SKZ being duplicated – it looks like it can’t be helped. We know for sure that there’s a double for Chan, Woojin and Felix. In the MV it seems like Hyunjin also has a double that is watching himself from the other side of the door while the one inside the room says “Why are you staring at me again?” and then we see a surveillance camera (they’re onto Hyunjin, but Hyunjin seems to notice it).

this may seem dumb, but Changbin is duplicated in Get Cool (and like I said, any evidence is evidence lol). I don’t remember seeing Jisung, Seungmin and Minho being duplicated in any MV, and isn’t it weird that they’re the ones we see on the cage in AS?

in My Pace we have seven numbers shown behind them when they’re dancing: 137, 163, 191, 223, 241, 271 and 307. I thought they wouldn’t put this randomly so I searched what these number might mean and I found that they’re prime numbers (as you know, prime numbers can only be divided by themselves), and that prime numbers are very useful for creating keys to decrypt data by hackers. So I thought… what if Jeongin and Chan were trying to decrypt the system in order to mess with it but they need a key and Hyunjin was the key? And after DK happened, they managed to create glitches even more powerful than before? (like I explained in my theory).

anyways… moving on to Astronaut. ASTRONAUT = a person who is trained to travel in a spacecraft. But what if in SKZ concept an Astronaut is someone trained to travel their realities? And as we can see in I Am Not, Hyunjin is the one being trained in the VR apparatus.

also, he’s the one with an airplane behind him in Victory Song (and by now I think every little thing in these MVs are clues, sorry)

so what I take from this is that Hyunjin is like the tester of the realities they’ll have to face in order to escape District 9, like he is on a trial mode, if that makes any sense…

in the Astronaut MV, as we all noticed, we have some references from past MVs such as I Am You (the spinning thing); Victory Song (the red flares Chan & Jeongin are holding); Miroh (the boxes); Side Effects (the cart) and Chronosaurus (the plastics)

it’s interesting that Jeongin and Chan are the ones together when the music begins and I think this might mean sth because they’re always referenced as one, like in IAY; and Chan in AS is probably talking to MH’s Jeongin, because if they know what’s happening in the system, they might be able to keep in touch with each other even from different realities – but this is just me speculating too much!

in the MV we see 3 orbs: the 1st one is blueish with a green center; the 2nd is dark blueish/purple with a yellow center, and the last one is transparent with a black center.

so I googled those orb colors and found out that the first one may signify communication, neutrality, healing – might be applied to a master/guide; the second one may signify caution, insight, notice; while the last one may signify insecurity, being trapped or tortured. I don’t know if this makes sense, but I put it in here bc I strongly believe that these orbs represent Chan, Hyunjin and Jeongin, since they’re the ones that seem to be the focus of this storyline (and the color scheme of the scenes the orbs appear reminded me of IAY, 19 and SE)

going back to the AS MV, we also see Felix glitching like he did in MH and I was able to see in the background glasses being smashed, lightening, buildings, a road and a bridge, storm, moon, etc., and these are all elements that are present in their MVs, like showing what they already faced so far.

the cage scene made me think of District 9. When we first see it, Jeongin is the only one inside, but then we also see Han, Minho, Seungmin with him – and they’re slightly glitching, btw.

some other things happen to Hyunjin, he keeps on running, and now he’s outside on a dark road with a storm coming up – which reminded me of SE a lot, especially because of the two moons -, but he seems quite peaceful facing all those terrifying elements

he runs towards the end of the road that he can’t even see what’s waiting for him there – but maybe it’s because he already knows what happens next.

Hyunjin finds Chan in front of a door (maybe the exit?) and they all go through – to me it looks like Felix is the one about to close it, like he did with the gate in D9. Chan then shoots sth towards the sky like he did in VS (which caused a storm), but here it only makes a beam of light appear for them – as if they’re asking to go up? Like ‘beam me up Scotty’? you guys know this Star Trek reference, right? lol

and now we see the sky, but we don’t have two moons… I know it’s probably bc it’s morning, but in SE it was also morning and we saw two moons, so I’m assuming Hyunjin was able to find the finish line of the VR simulation (because I’m assuming that everything with the two moons is actually the VR)

at the end, we see Jeongin walking to the spinning thing like a glitch – like Chan also did when he went to the door, as if teleporting from here to there – and he’s alone, probably left behind. But why would SKZ leave him behind? Probably because they didn’t know he was there...

alright, so what does it all mean? I’m gonna try my best to comment everything and try to link the MVs with the lyrics to create a somewhat decent storyline.

on the released picture of the AS track list, this is what is written (it’s a rough translation, so I’m sorry if it’s wrong): “when we were happy together, we could do anything, where we chatted and laughed carelessly until dawn. Suddenly, I saw a bead… what is it? As soon as I got close, I heard a strange sound. At the end of the sound was a faint mixture of familiar voices calling my name. Without thinking, I started getting drawn by the sound”

To me, the first part means the I Am You setting. They were all happy after being free, they created their own world where they could do anything as long as they were together. In AS we see Hyunjin in this same environment and that’s also when the first orb appears. Hyunjin is attracted by the orb that could possibly be SKZ’s way to communicate with him inside the VR. Because remember, Hyunjin is there but what he’s seeing and experiencing is not real. He’s testing the ways out for SKZ. But he was so happy in that reality that he lost himself, he didn’t know what he was supposed to do anymore. And SKZ sent something to guide him out of this fake environment as we see in AS. He then started his journey back to where the real SKZ are, going through all the tokens from the realities he’s been through (like the boxes with the confusing mazes, but that are easily destroyed bc is not real; the cart from SE, the gate from D9, etc…). What also gives him hints is how the members start to act after he begins his running in AS. After he destroys the boxes, Felix is standing there like a heroic figure, glitching with Changbin, looking almost unapproachable or as if he can’t see him. we see Chan on the floor, so Chan is probably grounded like Hyunjin.

then he sees his friends trapped inside a cage. But the thing is that this cage is really ridiculous, any of them could climb or help the other to get out of there, so I think they’re trapped bc they’re not real, it’s all a simulation, – except for Jeongin, but I’ll get to this point later on, hold on!! – and this cage represents D9.

Hyunjin runs endlessly until he reaches the road I mentioned already, and he finds Chan, they all go through the door (how could they if four of them were trapped? unless nothing of that is real) and they are all dressed in white, like when they escaped D9, dancing happily on the rooftop.

to me, after Jeongin got off the bus he realized the system’s plan and told Chan (their leader), and they came up with ideas to escape, but they needed someone that could control the reality, and Hyunjin was being trained for it – although he was frustrated with it - so they asked him to go unlocking worlds (or roads, or whatever) and he did it, but as farther he went, he started getting lost in the system bc he didn’t know who he was anymore, was he a clone already? What he’s seeing is reality or virtual reality? What’s the truth, what’s the answer?

Chan and Jeongin were able to guide Hyunjin throughout the MVs to continue with their plan, but Hyunjin’s mind was starting to lose itself, although he had a feeling that something seemed off… And Astronaut is nothing more than a recap of all what they’ve been through and Hyunjin’s journey to the unknown in order to find SKZ again and help them escape.

so what about that last scene with Jeongin? Well, I think the Jeongin in white clothes with them at the end is not the real Jeongin, and the Jeongin we see sitting alone is in fact the real one that is trapped inside the VR. Chan was guiding Hyunjin but lost Jeongin in the meantime and didn’t realize it or Chan knows it and is also a clone anything is possible, because to me the Jeongin we see in their MVs isn’t the real Jeongin since D9, like I said in the beginning of this analysis. Maybe the reason Seungmin and Minho were found on DK by the drone is bc Jeongin was with them and he’s part of the system? The others weren’t seen except for these three. I also believe this hypothesis because the gate in AS represents D9 and Jeongin is the only one moving after Hyunjin leaves, probably showing that the real one was lost in D9, but since there can’t be two “Jeongins” in a same place, he needs to wait for them to realize that they’re dealing with a fake one and come back for him.
